What horror movie have you seen recently?

Recently watched three haunted-house/demon movies in a row: The Beyond, Superstition and Night of the Demons. I don't know which one I liked best... The Beyond had the best creepy atmosphere, Superstition had the best individual moments (mostly of killing) and Night of the Demons was the most fun in that retro cheesy way. All three are well worth checking out.

Just watched Blood Link with Michael Moriarty, still unavailable on DVD but I would recommend tracking it down on VHS if possible. I have had mine for about 12 years, really cool flick. Also revisited Three On A Meathook, and Superstition.

Burnt through a couple horror movies recently...

Zombieland - Good, but not as funny as Shaun of the Dead (still the benchmark as far as i'm concerned). I was probably expecting too much, considering how apeshit the Internet went for the movie. This movie also introduced me to Doves (the band) so I give it major props.

Suspriria - the most beautifully colourful movie I think I've ever seen. Not very scary, although the barbed-wire room was great. Goblin's score is worth repeated listens as well. I'm in awe of this movie.

Stalker - Not a horror movie, but like 'Solaris' it's creepingly slow, unnerving and darkly themed. Horror for the cerebrum, you could say. This is worth repeated watches, if you can take its plodding pace.

Severance - A pretty funny British horror feast. Best bear-trap-related scenes ever put on film. I suppose Eastern Europe is backwoods-psycho-cannibal Texas for the 21st century.

Damn I love "Bloodsucking Freaks"!! One of my faves!

I just watched "The Untold Story" for the umpteenth time lol! Watching some 80's sex comedies right now..."Cave Girl" and "Coach"...going to watch some of the "Hellraiser" sequels this weekend...actually I watched "Hellraiser 4: Bloodlines" recently and was surprised at how much awesome gore it had! I'm hoping the later ones carry on that tradition but I have a feeling that they will fall flat!

went retro last night with Zombi3 which i guess is technically Zombi2 cause zombi2 was really zombi1 but dawn of the dead recieved that tite in italy

Girls Nite Out, Up From the Depths...dug em both! Loved the bear costume in Girls Nite Out and the golden oldies soundtrack...made for an original slasher movie for sure.

I enjoyed LA HORDE but it is a pretty sloppy piece of entertainment. I did like that fight in the kitchen where the zombie gets a fridge dropped on her, though. Probably the best zombie melee fight I've seen in a movie -- it just goes on and on in a kind of deranged catfight and the zombie takes an huge amount of punishment before dropping. A convincingly nasty scene in a fairly cartoonish super-zombie movie.

Just watched ICHI THE KILLER again. It's good, but not as good as I recall it being when I saw it a few years ago. Its preponderance of brutal violence against women probably disturbed me more than it disturbed the women I watched it with, oddly enough, and I would call it an effective film for being that blunt and nasty, and commend the actors on believably selling some very, very taxing scenes. But like a lot of Japanese horror flicks (and Miike flicks especially) the movie as a whole is overlong, self-indulgent, badly-paced and in need of a skilled editor to tighten up the endless scenes of boardroom meetings and slow, brooding conversations between its roster of minor characters. The 2001-era CGI gore that crops up throughout the movie is plain goofy, which gels uneasily with the darker themes of sadomasochism it's trying to convey, although you can see a direct line from that splat-stick gore to latter-day J-horror movies like Tokyo Gore Police and The Machine Girl. In the end, Ichi is a good watch and deserves some of its infamy, but it isn't quite the jaw-dropping, neon-saturated, thrilling gorefest that I remembered. Maybe that movie exists only in my mind.

I don't usually feel uneasy when I watch a fucked up movie but Martyrs really pushes the envelope! Its almost as if your soul is being raped when you watch it!! It is a great film :)

Murder-Set-Pieces (Director's Cut) has its parts too... The Lionsgate release of that movie is crap though, I think almost 20 minutes of footage is cut out.

Anyone seen the Feast movies? Those films don't take themselves seriously but they are funny as hell! I really enjoyed those movies for some reason because they were so... different!

I know these aren't really horror but the ILSA films are a guilty pleasure of mine, especially She Wolf of the SS. I hope this doesn't sound too messed up but damn she could wear the shit out of that Nazi uniform!

The thing that gets me about Martyrs is how realistic its effects are -- they really dwell on the bruises and lacerations and it all looks brilliant. That was all done by Maestro FX in Montreal... who Ryan used to work for, coincidentally. My best friend GunStreetGirl (who worked on Star Vehicle) also worked for Maestro when we lived in Montreal and she worked on some great stuff with them. Lots of destroyed bodies, monsters and gore, ha.

I only saw the first Feast movie but I did enjoy it. Especially Henry Rollins, who is always totally awesome. I should check out the sequels, I've heard good things.

I suppose it's not really a "horror" movie, per se - it's more in the mode of like a Se7en. But I do enjoy me some dirty crime thrillers and what not. The movie was sick and vile, although not overly violent. I was pretty into it, although there are quite a bit of parts in the middle that are a little draggy.

Anyone else seen this film?
