BIG FUCKING MONSTER (2012)

For college student Josie Kane, it starts as a simple internship: to shadow a group of high-tech land surveyors as they make their first foray into an ancient wilderness. Assisted by grizzled security guard Dale Philip, the crew knows how to handle protesters and saboteurs — but there’s something much, much worse in the woods this time. The local natives say the land is cursed — haunted by a demonic entity older than time. Now people are going missing, turning up dead or worse, and Josie and the crew are about to discover the truth behind the legend. The most alarming horror is the one you never see coming!

From New Image Entertainment and Vancouver’s indie horror mavericks at Plotdigger Films, Ryan Nicholson’s next shocker is a darkly hilarious onslaught of creature-feature horror and mayhem. It all ends in 2012!

BLEADING LADY / STAR VEHICLE (2010)

Official Site

Dan Ellis takes the lead in this blood-drenched tale of Hollywood horror. Bleading Lady tells the tale of frustrated Teamster driver Don Cardini, abused by spoiled stars and arrogant students, who becomes a ticking time-bomb of revenge. As Don goes on the rampage, his favourite scream queen finds herself up for a new role in the greatest gorefest of all — real life.

Bleading Lady was co-produced by the fine folks at New Image Entertainment, who contributed locations, acting talent and make-up expertise. The film combines our patented Plotdigger bloodshed with a self-aware script, sunny outdoor locales and a gritty performance from Dan Ellis, who stole the show in two of our previous films. Your ride to hell is scheduled for March 29, 2011!

VERSION INFORMATION:

This film was titled “Star Vehicle” prior to its acquirement by Breaking Glass Pictures. The name was changed to “Bleading Lady” upon distribution of the film on DVD and VOD throughout North America. In Germany and certain other countries, the film is still titled “Star Vehicle”. Sorry for any confusion!

HANGER (2009)

Pulled into this world to take you out! Hanger is horrifying, hilarious tale of revenge in the classic grindhouse tradition, starring a duo who are wired to kill. A botched back-alley abortion results in a mutilated child, who grows up to embark on a murderous mission of revenge. A variety of twisted and monstrous figures stand in Hanger’s way… but not for long. Pimps and dealers, hookers and junkies: they’ll all be hung out to dry.

Hanger is the fourth Plotdigger Film, reuniting familiar faces from previous Plotdigger entries and bringing on board sensational stars such as Debbie Rochon to tell this story of sickness. The film combines ’70s grindhouse sleaze with ’80s Troma-style freakshows with the cringe-inducing gore dialed up to eleven. Inspired by everything from Death Wish to Street Trash, Hanger is a technicolour nightmare you’ll never forget… even if you try.

Hanger was released July 2009 in a severely cut and censored version for the German market. Unfortunately, this was the Internet’s first exposure to Hanger, as a torrented version was spread around the Internet in the summer. Upon seeing this milquetoast version, many fans worried that we’d lost our balls. It ain’t so!

The uncut Austrian version of Hanger, dubbed in German (and very well, we might add) came to light in late September of 2009 courtesy of Shock DVD Entertainment. Buzz from German viewers is positive… this movie makes an impression in any language!

The international uncut English version of Hanger is set for release across North America by Vicious Circle Pictures on November 17, 2009. The official release will have a ton of awesome bonus features to salivate over; see below for a complete list!

GUTTERBALLS (2008)

Remember the ’80s horror heyday of trashy, campy, ultra-violent sleaze? We certainly do, and that’s why we’re offering Gutterballs.

A brutally sadistic rape leads to a series of bizarre gory murders during a midnight disco bowl-o-rama at a popular bowling alley. One by one, players on rival teams meet blood-drenched deaths at the hand of a masked, bowling-themed killer. The alley runs red with blood as the killer strikes again and again, leaving no-one unspared. Full of depraved gore, beautiful babes and over-the-top performances, Gutterballs is an underground sensation.

Plotdigger Films goes balls-deep with our third film, Gutterballs. This neon-hued nightmare has been unleashed in several DVD forms, starting with a self-distributed “bootleg” review copy which set its uncut depravity to a fun and retro ’80s soundtrack of classic Canadian bands. Gutterballs was then picked up by TLA Releasing / Danger After Dark, re-edited and set to a sleazy grindhouse synth score by Gianni Rossi. The original review edition is Unrated, and the TLA version of Gutterballs is available in both R-Rated and Balls-Out Uncut versions.

Fun Facts:

» At over 625 instances of the word “fuck”, Gutterballs is the most profane of any internationally distributed English-language film ever made — except for a documentary titled “Fuck”.

» Most of this swearing was not in the script.

» Gutterballs is not, in fact, a Jackie Treehorn Production.

LIVE FEED (2006)

Screenplay: Ryan Nicholson
Director: Ryan Nicholson
Starring: Kevan Ohtsji, Taayla Markell, Rob Scattergood, Lee Tichon, Caroline Chojnacki Ashley Schapper

While looking for a sexy good time in a foreign city, a group of five young Americans becomes trapped inside the confines of a terrifying establishment run by Chinese gangsters. Gangland torture, sleazy sex and perverse porn are just a few of the place’s delights. There’s also a kitchen  — and there’s more than just chow mein on the menu. It’s a feast of horror as these kids find themselves in a fight for their lives. This is a night on the town they won’t soon forget!

FILM BACKGROUND:

Live Feed is straight out of the sick and depraved imagination of Ryan Nicholson, director of Torched. After visiting a working porno theater in the downtown east side of Vancouver, the disgusting decor and perversion filled rooms spawned the idea that later became Live Feed.

The cast of Live Feed was a mix of upcoming young actors, Nicholson veterans and an amazing group of Asian actors that completed the melting-pot that is the cast of Live Feed. Rob Scattergood of Torched was cast as the cheating fiance Darren. Taayla Markell was cast as Emily, Darren’s soon-to-be wife. Lee Tichon was brought onboard as Mike, the mouthy, trouble-seeking steroid junkie. Ashley Schappert was cast as Sarah, the coke-snorting, wannabe-goth girlfriend of Mike. Finally, Caroline Chojnacki was cast as Linda, the groupie slut who betrays her best friend and pays the ultimate price. With key cast ready to go, the search was on for the mysterious tour guide. Enter Kevan Ohtsji as Miles/Seiji, the Vancouver local who oozes mystery with every inch of his being. It was a perfect recipe for the bloodbath to come.

Seasoned Asian actors Stephen Chang, Colin Foo and Greg Chan were brought in to play the ultra-violent Triad gang leaders and members. Actor Mike Bennett rounded out the cast of Live Feed as The Giant, a hulking beast of an executioner with a taste for blood. Live Feed went to camera in May of 2005. The exhausting three week shoot filmed in the Venus Theater, a disgusting cinema located in the dangerous, crime-ridden downtown eastside of Vancouver. The cast and crew also shot at the Uranus Nightclub, a strip club and known gang hang-out. The vibrant opening scenes of Live Feed were shot at the lively Richmond Night Market.

“I remember the first first day of filming. We were on set for 1 AM and Lee and I were the first ones to shoot a scene. I had been up since 6 AM that morning and I was super tired. By 3am I was ready to just fall down dead from being so tired. Then Ryan brought out the blood! I had never had so much fun in my life. Sure I was covered head to toe in fake blood — that I later learned would NOT come off — but, at that point I didn’t care. I got to kick, scream, punch and make out with a hot guy… and I was getting paid.”— Ashley Schappert (Sarah)

Live Feed was a difficult shoot. The locations were hard to film in and the all-night shooting schedule only made matters worse. But in the end, when the cameras finished rolling, everyone went away with a sense of accomplishment and new friendships.

DVD INFORMATION:

Live Feed is the second Plotdigger Film and the first to be released independently of a compilation. Upon its release on DVD, the film created a sensation amongst hardcore horror audiences for its audacity, perverse humour and creative mutilations. To date, MTI Home Video / Redrum Entertainment has released Live Feed across North America in both R-rated and Unrated editions. International editions are also available for various regions.
